Manchester United, on Thursday, strolled into the FA Cup quarter-final with an easy 3-0 win over Derby County. Odion Ighalo (X2) & Luke Shaw found the net for the red devils.
United will face Premier League bottom club, Norwich City, at Carrow Road in the next round. The winner of that tie will qualify for the Cup semifinal, played at Wembley, every year.
Wayne Rooney’s Derby County started off on a positive note as the United legend ticked around some passes with ease. But, when Luke Shaw found the net, just after the half hour mark, United found confidence and moved through the gears to get a satisfactory performance and result.
Luke Shaw’s goal was a good strike into the ground that got deflected off Jesse Lingard.
Odion Ighalo, then, scored a scrappy, but very intelligent goal to double the lead right before half time.
Ighalo then smashed home for the third goal closer to the hour mark to kill the tie.
Wayne Rooney Watch:
Wayne Rooney was in his own elements. Calm, composed, yet, aggressive. His long passes were a sight to watch and he tested Sergio Romero with 2 magnificent free kicks. The Argentine though, made equally brilliant saves to keep the United legend at bay.
