Deadline day for January window 2020 is upon us. Manchester United have announced the signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting. But, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also wants goals and goalscorers.
In an extensive article, we discussed why United need a goalscorer. Now, we have a look at who the Red Devils could turn to on deadline day to satisfy Solskjaer’s wishes:
#1 Luka Jovic
Luka Jovic joined Real Madrid with high expectations in the summer of 2019. As he has failed to live up to expectations, rumours in the Spanish media is that, Real might look to loan the striker out. Luka Jovic fits the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer requirement of a box striker.
#2 Edinson Cavani
Edinson Cavani is out of contract in the summer. He was very actively pursued by Atletico Madrid in the past few days. But, latest reports suggest that Atletico Madrid have given up on signing the striker, at least for now. Manchester United could act on deadline day and no other striker would make a difference as Cavani would.
#3 Olivier Giroud
Olivier Giroud is available and is eager to leave Chelsea immediately to enhance his chances of playing in the UEFA European Championship in the summer. But, any deal that sees Giroud arrive at Carrington will be extremely difficult. United are direct competitors to Chelsea in the race for Top-4.
#4 Islam Slimani
AS Monaco striker (on-loan) Islam Slimani is a striker extensively linked to United in the last few days. The striker is said to be eager to return to England and Manchester United also are rumoured to be interested in the short term.
#5 Salomon Rondon
Salomon Rondon is in China with Dalian Yifang. This might just turn out to be rumours as United might not have the time to complete any deal.
