[Metro] According to sources in the club the Manchester United dressing room is split as players are unhappy with the club’s contract offers to Ashley Young, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

Since these contract renewals David De Gea’s contract situation has been thrown into doubt with the goalkeeper wanting parity with the club’s top earner Alexis Sanchez.

United also failed to reach an agreement with Ander Herrera, while Juan Mata is out of contract this summer, and has also not signed a new deal to stay at the club.

According to The Times some players in the United dressing room believe that the English players in the squad do not merit the contracts they have been given as Phil Jones only made 24 appearances this season, while Ashley Young and Chris Smalling have been heavily criticized for their performances this season.
