Sir Alex Ferguson paid a visit to the AON Training Complex on Saturday.
Reports were circulating that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had invited the United boss prior to United’s 4-1 win over Bournemouth, but it was not known whether Sir Alex had taken up the invitation.
This was until Solskjaer confirmed the gaffers visit saying: “He paid us a visit yesterday. He enjoyed his time at the training ground, we had a nice few chats with us and the staff and he encouraged us.”
“He knows the staff I’ve got are Man United through and through and he knows we’re going to do whatever we can, up to the last second we’re here, for Man United to do as best as we can.”
Sir Alex, 77 had never been invited to the training ground under David Moyes, and Louis Van Gaal’s tenure, but had been to the training ground several times when Mourinho was in charge.
However, he is expected to hold much more influence this time around with Solskjaer saying he will not be afraid to ask the former United boss for advice throughout his tenure at United.
