Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as the manager for the reminder of the 2018-19 season. This comes following the event of Jose Mourinho leaving the club. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be the manager until the summer.
Manchester United announced the move in a statement released to the press confirming that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will start his work immediately.
Solskjaer said he was happy to be back at Old Trafford and he has United in his hearts.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also said he couldn’t miss out on this opportunity when he spoke with his former club Molde:
“This is an opportunity I had to take. I am looking forward tremendously to lead Manchester United until the summer. Meanwhile, I will closely monitor what is happening here at home (Molde).”
Ed Woodward also spoke about the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team:
“Ole is a club legend with huge experience, both on the pitch and in coaching roles. His history at Manchester United means he lives and breathes the culture here and everyone at the club is delighted to have him and Mike Phelan back.“
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brings with him the experienced head in Mike Phelan. Mike Phelan was Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant in his final days as Manchester United manager. Micheal Carrick and Kieran McKenna have been kept as coaching staff.
