Manchester United vs Arsenal. History. Blood. Sweat. Trophies. Titles. Glory. Temper. Anger. Hard Tackles. Harsh Words. Thrashings. Smahings. Goals. Keane and Viera. Wenger and Ferguson. Rooney and Henry. Ronaldo and Bergkamp.
These two are the biggest modern Football Clubs to grace the Premier League. Liverpool are there. Chelsea also a close contender. But, nothing comes close to Manchester United vs Arsenal in modern terms.
But, as both clubs go head to head again at Old Trafford on Wednesday, 5th December at 20:00 GMT, the fixture will not be the same that it was.
Jose Mourinho will hope that the change in fortune for his Manchester United will come against one of his biggest rivals – Arsenal and Unai Emery will hope his side add onto the 19 unbeaten games in a row they have had.
Manchester United’s crisis deepened when rumours came out that Jose could be without 8 defenders. But, those were relieved when the squad arrived at the hotel yesterday. Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly were pictured arriving alongside Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia as Jose Mourinho recieved a little boost ahead of the big game.
Ashley Young is suspended after receiving his 5th yellow card for the season. Luke Shaw and Phil Jones seem to have picked up injuries. Romelu Lukaku seems to have recovered despite being subbed off for treatment. Diogo Dalot was also spotted arriving.
Arsenal on the other hand are confident on the back of a stunning North London Derby comeback win against Arch Rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Mesut Ozil missed that game through injury and is expected to miss the game against Manchester United as well. Granit Xhaka is suspended for having gotten a 5th yellow card.
Unai Emery’s tactical nouse has proven to be the key for Arsenal’s improved form.
Lucas Torriera vs Paul Pogba:
This midfield battle could be a mouthwatering clash of two midfield titans of the two teams. Torriera has been Arsenal’s stand out signing/player this season. He plays with his heart in his sleeve. Energetic, robust tackler who can distribute the ball brilliantly well. Meanwhile, Paul Pogba has gone off the boil ever since starring for France in the World Cup. A perfect game for redemption of some form ahead of a big month? Arsenal at home. So, hope Pogba is at his best.
Anthony Martial vs Hector Bellerin:
Here’s another battle that could prove very much crucial.
Hector Bellerin and Anthony Martial are two in form players. Bellerin will look to pin Martial deep in his attacking half so that the Manchester United attacker will stay defensive. Martial will also try to push up to pin Bellerin down. Who bests who could probably decide the game.
Manchester United always have had the tendency to beat Arsenal in how much ever crisis they are in when it comes to Old Trafford. So, expect Manchester United to register a first PL win since winning at Bournemouth last month.
2-1 Manchester United with Martial and Lukaku scoring for Man United. Aubameyang for Arsenal.
