Manchester United are confident of trying down David De Gea to a new deal at Old Trafford and extending his stay at the club.
The Guardian reports that the Spaniard would see his wages substantially increased from the 180,000 pounds per week he currently earns.
De Gea joined United in the summer of 2011, and after a difficult start to his career, has emerged to become one of the best keepers in the club’s history. With no interest looming from Real Madrid anymore- following their signing of Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois, De Gea looks like he will remain a Manchester United player for the foreseeable future. The 27-year old has made 316 appearances for Manchester United and kept 118 clean sheets.
